| Occasionally we come across parts on bikes that have served their purpose well, but were not replaced soon enough. |

| This year's first addition is the
misfire on my 'new' TTR 250. Badly misfiring under load and pulling the choke
out had a negative impact so I got ready to look for an electrical or fuel
problem. Removing the airbox cover I got wet feet as approximately 1lt of water
poured out. You can see from the photos that the water was half way up the foam
filter and that was causing the misfire. Turns out that the spare, cut-down,
seat that I got with the bike didn't stop the rear wheel from chucking the mud
etc from the back wheel straight into the airbox intake
snorkel! The original seat is going back on which has a barrier to stop such nonsense! |

| Acouple of new additions to the
museum are..... 1) Fixer's rear caliper. I'd been fighting this caliper since I've had the bike but it always worked. I'd contemplated a rebuild but it was expensive for the bits and i couldn't be bothered to look into it. However, the ride in Cornwall on the 25th put an end to my procrastination when the caliper broke. You can see from the photos that the slider pin has been bent. I believe that this happened prior to me owning the bike so it lasted over 2 years before letting go. |

| The yellow lines are drawn at right angles showing how far the pin is out of line. The pads always wore unevenly so the new caliper should sort it all out. |
| The second addition this month is LenB's master cylinder. As you may have read in the 25th April '09, Cornwall Raid, report, Len had an off and the brake lever snapped the lugs off the mastercylinder. However, when I inspected the broken lugs you can see that the top one has been broken for some time (check the discolouration of the alloy) and it was only the bottom breaking on Saturday that caused the failure - check the fresh break on the bottom lug! This may be a fortuitous accident as the bottom lug may have snapped under hard breaking which may have resulted in a rather nasty road accident! |

![]() Several missing rollers on the rear chain! No wonder it was so hard to get the chain adjustment right! |
![]() Still more rollers missing |
| Cap'n Slow is now running on an old chain that I considered too knackered to run on my bike! |
